I met David a few years ago when I sadly had to have my beloved horse pts, I can only recommend David as the kindest most understanding and professional person you would wish to deal with in this situation. From the first phone call, to David arriving on time he was sensitive, and compassionate. He explained clearly the procedure and answered my questions. My greatest worry was that my horse would sense what was going to pass and it did not. On meeting my horse he was calm the horse wasn’t wary at all. David has a good energy animals and people.. The passing was handled sensitively and calmly. More recently I had to call on David again for our family pony, again I can only say that David handled the situation with the upmost respect, giving the pony dignity in its passing. Again the pony warmed to him there was no hint of what was going to pass. It is the most upsetting decision you have to take as a horse owner and can only say in this situation I would always call David from the first call to the end he makes an awful situation bearable. Thank you.

After the confirming of our 14 year old Irish Sports horse’s lymphoma we knew what needed to be done. After 24 agonising hits trying to wrap our head around it I made the call. From the moment he answered and I blurted out how much love I felt for this horse and how it had to happen because I loved him too much to let him decline and be prodded to give us only another 5 years David was there for us. His words ring in my ears today. “When a horse owner calls time for their beloved horse then you have made that decision from the best of places. You’ve done the hard part by making this call.” I already had the day in my mind. We didn’t want to wait too long and live with Vader knowing we were going to lose him. To have him absorbing all our sadness and worrying if he had done something wrong seemed really cruel. He was a soul horse and could reach right inside ypur heart and was very sensitive to people’s emotions. He came with us out to Norway and 3 years later made the journey back to the UK. He had been the best kind of a horse anyone could wish for! A true gentleman and a people pleaser. Not one nasty bone inside him. We had our last 2 days with him. He ate ice cream (mango was his favourite), strawberries, sweets, chocolate (Lindor of course) and his favourite white cow parsley. He had nearly all of that! Friday came and I really thought we weren’t going to make it through the process to be there with him. When David stepped towards us on the yard he focused immediately on Vader stood there with his tail chopped off. He put his hand out for Vader to smell and scratched him behind the ear. Vader dropped his head into the palm of his hand. He liked him and I loved that David’s main goal was to have Vader comfortable with him. Lyrica (14) and 2 friends were with us and David took his time with each of us. We stood in the school and I was shaking so hard trying to fumble with my headfones. I needed to be there but I was so terrified of how it would feel. I was all fingers and thumbs and David told me it’s ok don’t panic. All the while Vader was stood with his eyes half closed while David scratched his star. When I was sorted and we were all ready I focused only on his legs and whilst still having his head scratched, Vader still stood in total enjoyment at this amazing head rub and then it was done. Vaders legs immediately relaxed and it was quite possibly the most challenging and difficult thing I have ever been privileged to be part of. There was no pain. No stress. My spirit horse had absolutely no idea what was happening and I t was completely instant. We had time to hold that dear boy to say our final goodbye and I absolutely knew in that moment we had made all the right choices for him. It’s not an easy thing to have to do. How can it be? It’s impossible to be any other than horrific but I do know that awful thing was made so much easier because of David’s experience, patience, kindness and sensitivity. I hope not to have to see David with our pony for a long time but when the time comes I am absolutely not able to consider using anyone else. I cannot recommend his services enough. Thank you so much from all of us and most importantly from Vader. Who is now free from any further pain. We made a contract with that horse the day we got him that we would love him to the end and we kept our end of the bargain.

David came today to send my friend’s much loved horse on his final journey. He spent time talking to my friend, telling her what to expect and then time with the horse, rubbing his face and getting him to feel at ease. It was over so quickly and the horse was loaded in the truck after my friend, her family and their other pony said their farewells. At all times David showed compassion and sensitivity. I have used David twice now, for two much-loved horses. Once in June 2012 and most recently in May 2024, and quite frankly I wouldn’t recommend anyone else. David is a true professional, who gives his job the respect that it deserves. It is not an easy service to deliver, but he delivers it in a way that is calm and considered. None of us want to make that final decision, but David’s support and professionalism makes a terrible situation bearable. And most importantly, David prioritises the horse’s experience, ensuring that they have a dignified and stress-free end.

I cant tell you how much we were absolutely dreading this day. Took us over 6 months to call David after a close friends recommendation. In turn, I truly can’t recommend David’s kind, caring, compassionate service enough. Everything was in our time, as we were ready, at our pace, no rushing. David had a way with our very untrusting of strangers horse, he was instantly trusted by our horse with his gentle mannerism. The dispatch was absolutely instant. David ensured we were okay after the event and collected a lock of tail for us that we requested. We will never get over losing our blue eyed boy but David certainly made the end stress free for him. Should we ever be in this unfortunate situation again I would not hesitate to contact David, knowing we were in safe hands. Thank you David.

I can’t thank David enough for his service. It took us 6 months to come to the decision, which was heartbreaking. I was recommended David and contacted him. He was so kind, calm and highly professional. On the day there was no rushing or hurrying, it was all at our pace. Our beautiful blue eyed boy had such a horrid life before us he didn’t trust anyone other than us. But David has such a way about him our horse never felt threatened, frightened or uncomfortable, he trusted David like we did. Only when we were ready was the dispatch carried out. It was instant. No pain or feeling scared he was gone. David collected some tail and mane hair that we requested. He checked we were ok as really no one wants to be there at the end, but if you love your animal you find the strength to show them it’s ok and with David’s help it really was. Thank you David.

David also gave us fantastic advice for how to help his long term field mate understand where his friend was – which worked perfectly. I sadly had to face the fact that my horse had cancer for a 3rd time, I couldn’t face putting him through needless tests and procedures yet again and so made the decision that it was time to say ‘enough was enough’. Due to the circumstance I thought I had time to consider all options and so during the first week of diagnosis and decision of what his future was going to take found David online as part of my research. After reading reviews decided to drop him a message to find out more to help me make the right choice. He immediately reached out and we had an initial conversation, but due to me being on a train our conversation was cut short. I then put off calling him back, thinking I will do this tomorrow, which quickly meant 2 weeks had passed. I thought I had weeks/months with my horse, but then the day before Christmas Eve he suddenly took a turn and was displaying signs of pain (which had never happened before). Distraught I called David immediately as he had shown such compassion during our initial call and he was my instant ‘go to’ in my time of need, even thought we had had only a brief conversation previously. Despite it being so close to Christmas, and me being over 1.5 hours away he dropped everything and came immediately. He called during his journey to reassure me that he was coming and when he arrived, he made an awful situation bearable. He took time to meet my horse, explained what was going to happen. What was an awful situation to be in was as ‘lovely’ as it could be all thanks to David. It feels strange recommending his service, as it is something you hope others will not need, but from time to time situations do occur. I would not hesitate to call David again, and would recommend him to others without giving it a second thought. Thank you David – you really was our superhero that day. x

The dreaded day arrived, but David was very compassionate and caring and we felt safe in his hands. I was so relieved I had made the best decision for Merlin and myself. So, sometimes your hero wears a waistcoat instead of a cape! David, thank you so, so much for your kind, unassuming professionalism helping me, a stranger, when I really needed you & for being my strength to help me give my beloved ‘stroppy old bat’ freedom from pain, vulnerability & wondering why she could no longer move normally – that must be horrific for a horse, particularly an air-headed race horse! My memory is more of how relieved she was to see me that morning & that she knew I never left her when she needed me. Her body, magnificent as it once was, had failed her & she is now free of it’s restraints. I know that what you do is your ‘job’ but your compassion enables you to totally understand beyond the crude logistics & somehow you made it a privilege to help her… & me. I shall never forget that. It’s two wholly inadequate words but from my heart & both our souls, thank you. Jackie & my Mel xx

True compassion
David was so considerate and sympathetic right from the start. He made a very difficult and sad situation so much more bearable because of his attitude. Nothing was too much trouble. If I ever need these services again I will not hesitate to call on David.
